Change of markings for Dunkirk film warbirds

Three UK-based Spitfires have recently been adorned in temporary markings for the filming of Dunkirk, written and directed by Christopher Nolan and due for release in the summer of 2017.

Spitfire IA AR213 (G-AIST), Spitfire I X4650 (G-CGUK) and Spitfire V EP122 were given the fictional squadron codes ‘LC’ and the serial numbers R9632, R9612 and R9649 respectively. They were operated from Hoogeveen and Lelystad airfields in the Netherlands for the filming and where they were joined by Hispano Buchón G-AWKH (illustrated) which has also gained temporary markings to represent a Messerschmitt Bf 109E.
