First Lightnings for ANG

 

The first two F-35 Lightning IIs assigned to the 158th FW arrived at the Vermont Air National Guard Base, South Burlington, VT on September 19. The pilots bringing the aircraft in were Lt Col Anthony Marek, commander of the 134th Fighter Squadron and Lt Col Nathan Graber, a pilot assigned to the 134th FS.

The 158th FW is the first Air National Guard unit to receive the aircraft, and will be the second operational F-35 wing in the U.S. Air Force. It will receive a total of 20 F-35As over the following months.
