The Netherlands Ministry of Defense has decided that Exercise Frisian Flag at Leeuwarden Air Base will be cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The exercise was scheduled to run from March 23 to April 3. Although the exercise was planned to take place in the province of Friesland, units from other provinces would take part and thus risk spreading the virus. A number of air arms were due to participate in Frisian Flag.

The international Cold Response exercise in and near Norway has also been curtailed to prevent the spread of the virus. The main field component of the exercise was scheduled to take place from March 12-18. On March 11, the Norwegian armed forces announced that the exercise will be gradually phased out.
