To mark charity fundraiser Capt (now Col) Tom Moore’s 100th birthday, a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast of a Spitfire and a Hurricane has flown over his house in Befordshire. The Hurricane was flown by Sqn Ldr Mark Discombe AFC, OC BBMF and the Spitfire, Flt Lt Andy Preece.

Army veteran Moore has raised over £30m for charities supporting UK National Health Service (NHS) workers by walking lengths of his garden and through a number 1 single performed with singer Michael Ball.

Yesterday, Captain Tom Moore was appointed as the first Honorary Colonel of the Army Foundation College, Harrogate, in recognition of his incredible NHS fundraising feat that embodies the Army’s values and standards and has captured the nation’s heart.
